"DUALSTAR (Premium) " is a specially developed high grade potato base amphoteric starch, for use in the wet end. It is from the house having unrivalled experience in the field of manufacturing and supplying Spray Starch viz. “DS-HIBURST”, Oxidized Starch “OXISTAR-HC” and as well as high quality cationic starches “CATSTAR”. Its use intensifies following:

• Maximum retention of fines and fillers.
• Greater internal strength improvement due to additional fiber to fiber bond.
• Better sheet formation coupled with better drainage.
• Better print quality.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

“DUALSTAR (Premium)” has a cationic charge as well as anionic charge attached to it, which is done by fixing phosphorous group to cationic starches. The product contains higher level of phosphorous groups, due its potato base. Varying level of charge is attached by controlling the d.s. The product is equally effective in acid, neutral or alkaline papermaking. Since it has both the charges, it is capable of attracting both types of charged particles present in the paper making furnish.


HOW DUALSTAR WORKS IN PAPER MAKING:

An amphoteric starch can be represented by following chemical formula:

Papermaking furnish mainly consists of constituents which usually have slight anionic as well as cationic charge available for electrochemical and surface interactions with added polymers. DUALSTAR (Premium) contains quarternary amino groups that act as cationic charge carrier as well as Phosphorous groups that act as anionic charge carrier. DUALSTAR (Premium) will absorb to cellulose and other constituents, induce patch-type and bridging flocculation and strengthen the bonding between furnish components.

The strengthening effect of DUALSTAR (Premium) is much greater in a filled sheet with high filler level. This is because of the effect of the starch as a lubricant.

DOSAGE

0.2 to 0.5 %, depending upon the paper making system.

PREPARATION FOR DESIRED RESULTS

Prepare a suspension (free of lumps) of 3-6% in fresh cold water by stirring. Heat to 95 °C & keep under mild stirring for 20-30 minutes. Dilute to 1% before addition.

It is available in 50 Kg. (or as per request) HDPE bags with inner liner.

HANDLING, STORAGE & SAMPLING

• Do not use hooks, drag the bags on truck or any other platform.
• Make sure unloading labours have clean hands and heads covered with clean cloth /cap.
• Bags should be stored on clean platform, kept covered with clean piece of tarpaulin. Also ensure that the storage area is dry, covered, away from humid conditions, hazardous, explosive and aromatic chemicals.
