INTRODUCTION

A substantial quantity of paper is produced worldwide from recycled fibers. With each recycle, length and strength of fibers go down as the cellulose chains break. In order to increase strength properties of paper there are a number of options available to the papermakers. Most of the modified starches and other chemicals do improve the bursting strength, tensile strength and similar properties. However, some of the strength properties like Tear, RCT, CMT are more dependent on the type, chain length and strength of the fibers used in papermaking and are, therefore, difficult to improve.:

HOW THE CHEMICAL WORKS

"Hitear" has been developed to counter drawbacks of shorter and weaker fibers with broken cellulose chains. It acts as a rejuvenator for weak fibers by increasing the chain length and strength of the fibers. Thus even with mild addition of this chemical, difficult to improve strength properties can also be improved. It increases the chain length and does the cross linking between cellulose chains by forming covalent bonds which are permanent in nature. This is in contrary to hydrogen bonds, which are weak and can be broken.

METHOD OF PREPARATION

It is supplied in ready to use form but can be diluted by water as desired. It can be dosed continuously with a dosing pump.

RECOMMENDED DOSE AND POINT OF ADDITION:

Recommended dose of 8-10 Kg. of the chemical should be added per tonne of pulp, before the addition of sizing chemicals.
